I hate SS15. I would rather rip off my fingernails that drive down to SS15 to do any kind of shopping or activity.

That’s because SS15 is the epitome of chaos. It’s a compact area where multiple shops, colleges and business offices are squeezed together. Finding parking there during peak hour is like finding water in the Sahara desert. Sure, you’ll find it eventually, but boy are you going to suffer while doing it.

When an LRT station was finally built next to it, it became easier to visit it. But for train & walk enthusiasts like me, SS15 remains an exasperating and unfriendly place where I have to dodge vehicles that come at me from random directions.

Walkable, it ain’t.

Basically, long story short – there needs to be an extremely good reason for me to visit SS15. Headspace is one of them.

Headspace is a co-working space created by Thresa and Jessie, two female entrepreneurs.

In an interview with Vulcan Post, one of the founders, Jessie, said: “It’s almost impossible to be productive in non-conducive work places such as distracting cafes with patrons or in corporate office settings that are soul-sucking.”

I totally agree.

Pricing

Headspace seems to be kind to hotdeskers like me – they charge RM0.20 per minute for the use of their facilities, with a flat rate of RM18 all day after 90 minutes. Their prices are cheaper than those chain coworking spaces, which is a welcome for freelancers and casual hotdeskers.

Location

As I said, Headspace is located in SS15, otherwise known as the “crazy packed place where parking is nigh impossible to find”. So, if you plan to get there I’d highly recommend taking the LRT to the SS15 station. It’s a few minutes walk from there.

It’s located directly opposite the parking complex of SS15 and the SS15 market.

There’s plenty of restaurants around so you can just walk down to get a bite or two.

Facilities

There’s a bar table, a high table, a couple of conventional desks, little coffee discussion nooks and even a sofa if you want to put up your feet to read.

There’s also a discussion room to rent for RM80 per hour (price as if July 2019), with RM10 of free-flowing snacks and drinks.

Speaking of snacks, Headspace is apparently famous for its free cakes, but alas, I didn’t get to enjoy it on the day I visited. I, however, partaked of their endless supply of cookies and also ice-cream in their fridge. Yum.

Bathroom facilities, free wifi too, yup.

Ambience

I love the ambience inside the little space. I mean, I didn’t think a pocket of serenity and calmness could even exist in the noisy chaos that is SS15, but there you have it. The patrons of Headspace are largely respectful (on the day that I visited, anyway). Everyone’s there to work and they do it quietly. The only noise you’d have to put up with are a couple of gym grunts upstairs tossing down their weights to the floor in a show of, I don’t know, manliness? Laziness? (Why do people do that, seriously? Think of the ceilings and floors!)

Would I recommend it?

I totally would! I love this place and I’ll definitely return here to work!
